🏊♂️🚴♀️🏃♂️ CHRIS – SEASON REVIEW
1️⃣ What have been your highlights of the season?
🇮🇹 Milan Marathon – my first event abroad with friends from the club. A great city, a fantastic race village and, as always, there’s never an easy marathon! 😅
Finishing near the Duomo was pretty special, but the best part was having my awesome club mates waiting for me at the finish with a beer! 🍺
Would definitely recommend the spa the next day! 😂
Another huge highlight was the club winning the Triathlon England Swim Bike Run Award. There was a massive amount of awesome volunteering and behind-the-scenes work that went into it, and hopefully we’ve introduced lots of people to triathlon along the way.
I was also really proud to get 1st AG in the swim at Blithfield Triathlon. It shows how much our sessions — especially Wednesday morning swim — are pushing people to be the very best they can be.
And it’s brilliant to still see so much amazing work going on behind the scenes within the committee.
2️⃣ What achievement are you most proud of?
Definitely winning the Triathlon England award, but also seeing the club go from strength to strength.
There are so many people working incredibly hard behind the scenes to make the club what it is, and it’s great to see that recognised.
3️⃣ How has Nottingham Triathlon Club helped you this season?
Training alongside so many awesome people — especially the Ironman crew. They’ve been tested, but they’ve absolutely smashed it! 💪
Obviously, our awesome coaches and committee members play a huge part too. There’s inspiration everywhere you look.
The Wednesday morning swim and track sessions have really helped me this season and have pushed me to keep improving.
4️⃣ What do you wish you had known before joining the club?
That triathlon really is for all abilities — and there are so many awesome local events to get involved in.
You can see some real improvement when you start. I’ve knocked around 10 minutes off my times in just 1–2 years.
I came from a football background, where apparently you’re retired at 35! 😂
It’s great to still be playing sport, setting yourself goals and finding new challenges. Triathlon gives you so many opportunities — from local races to amazing events and even the chance to race for your country. 🇬🇧
5️⃣ What would you say to someone thinking about joining Nottingham Triathlon Club?
Come down and give it a go. See if it’s for you.
It fits around your schedule, there are loads of different sessions and, importantly, we go out as well! 🍻😂
You’ll meet some great people, have a laugh and probably surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
