Photographic Policy
Introduction
Nottingham Triathlon Club would like to use images that show athletes in a positive light (e.g. during training and competition) on our social media pages, publications and our website. Photographs and videos are an important way for members, coaches and parents to document an athlete’s triathlon experience.
Nottingham Triathlon Club is committed to providing a safe environment for all our members and coaches and we have adopted the following good practice guidelines issued by British Triathlon.
Publishing Images
By paying membership and having been shown this policy, members and parents/guardians (where the athlete is under 16 years of age) approve to the taking and usage of their image. If at any time you would prefer we do not take and/or use your images, please let it be known to our coach at the session.
- If an athlete is named in full (first and surname), we will avoid using their photograph
- Where possible, if a photograph is used, we will avoid naming the athlete in full.
- We will NEVER publish personal details (email addresses, telephone numbers, addresses etc) of an athlete.
- We will only authorise the use of images of athletes in suitable dress.
Use of Photographic Filming Equipment at Nottingham Triathlon Club Events
Nottingham Triathlon Club will:
- Inform athletes and parents that a photographer will be in attendance at an event and ensure they consent to both the taking and publication of films or photographs.
- Require parents, spectators and authorised photographers (e.g. press) to register at an event if they wish to use any photographic equipment including mobile phones with photographic technology.
- Issue identification passes which must be worn and clearly visible at all times during the event.
- Not allow unsupervised access to athletes or one to one photo sessions at events.
- Not approve/allow photo sessions outside the events or at an athlete’s home.
- Act on the concerns of any athletes and parents regarding the inappropriate use of photographic equipment.
- Inform children/young people and their parents/carers if video equipment is to be used as a coaching aid.
- Ensure that any photographic images taken and used will be stored safely,

Day 1 of the first-ever NTC Social Training Weekend in the Peaks ✅
We kicked things off with a fantastic trail run this morning, with routes to suit all abilities, plenty of quality training and some stunning views 🖼️
A big thank you to Cary for organising, Matt for leading the session, and well done to everyone who took part. We'll definitely be organising more of these in the future.
There was also some excellent post-run recovery and socialising (and cake 🍰).
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a great swim session at the Lido at the New Bath Hotel, expertly coached by Matt.
Day 2 brought a fantastic ride to round off the weekend 🚴♀️🚴♂️
A huge thank you to Cary for organising the routes, sorting the kit and generally being an absolute club legend. Thanks to our HOC Matt 👑 Tom for leading the 🚲
Well done to everyone who joined us and put the miles in. 💚
There was plenty of good riding, great company and of course... more cake 🍰
A fantastic weekend of training and socialising. We'll definitely be repeating this one in the future — perhaps with even more cake 🎂😉

Why did you join Nottingham Triathlon Club?
My wife, Anna, first joined while training for Nottingham Outlaw 70.3. I then got roped into the HUUB Sprint Relays and absolutely loved the chaos but even more so the community around NTC. If you’re thinking about entering a triathlon, join NTC and get yourself on a club ride. Spending a few hours bending the ears of seasoned athletes about all your concerns is worth its weight in gold.
Favourite session?
Track sessions with Mario and Susan were always my favourite but with the kids’ sporting commitments during the week, I struggle to make them these days. 😭 My highlight sessions now are the social rides with Cary Tours in the Peaks. Regardless of ability, you’re always guaranteed good banter, great views and amazing coffee stops. Oh, and a few decent climbs too. 🥵
Something you wish you’d known at the start of your triathlon journey?
Don’t be scared, everybody starts somewhere, and the NTC community is always there to help. Also, don’t be under any illusion that you’ll resist buying the bike you laughed at when you first started because of the price. Sooner or later, you’ll end up buying it… I’m just about to do exactly that. 😂💰
Last or Next Event
🏊🚴🏃 Nottingham Outlaw 70.3 – probably a PB but with the shortened swim we’ll never know! Either way, I absolutely loved it.
🏊🚴🏃 Next up: T100 London
Goal for 2026
🎯 Get stronger on the bike, start actually going swimming, and stop winging it.

Why did you join Nottingham Triathlon Club?
I joined Nottingham Tri Club to find a community of like-minded people whilst leaning on the experience of others for guidance and support through my first 70.3 event at Outlaw 2026.

🏊♀️ 6am HH Swim
Something you wish you'd known at the start of your triathlon journey?
I wish I'd joined NTC earlier in my training as I have been able to progress my swimming confidence and technique in a way which wouldn't have been possible if I'd continued to train alone for the duration of the training block!

🏊🚴🏃 Completed Outlaw 70.3
➡️ Next up: Mallory Park Sprint Triathlon
Goal for 2026
🎯 My main goal was to complete and enjoy my first 70.3 and overall to continue growing my love for this sport 🤩
